Design Leadership Playbook

In December 2025, senior design executives  convened for a virtual roundtable exploring how AI tooling is dramatically accelerating the speed, scale, and volume of discovery work.

Members discussed whether traditional frameworks like the Double Diamond still hold up, concluding that while the core phases remain relevant, the pacing, participants, and expectations have fundamentally shifted.

A central theme was the growing gap between rapid experimentation and the ability to govern quality at scale. The group emphasized the need to move beyond static “best practices” toward a playbook that is grounded in identifying the best problems to solve, supported by cross-functional experience governance frameworks.
