Chris Hacker is a seasoned design executive and sustainability advocate with a career spanning leadership roles at some of the world’s most recognized brands. Most recently, he served as Chair, Product Design at ArtCenter College of Design, bringing decades of expertise in design leadership and sustainability to the next generation of designers.
Previously, Chris was Chief Design Officer at Johnson & Johnson, where he founded and led the Global Strategic Design Office, shaping design strategy across all three J&J divisions while spearheading sustainability initiatives. He also held executive roles as SVP of Global Marketing & Design at Aveda, where he led the brand to win the 2004 National Design Award for Corporate Achievement, and VP of Marketing & Design at Herman Miller, overseeing design strategy for the Herman Miller Collection and Geiger.
Chris now leads Hacker Design Group, a consultancy specializing in product design, brand strategy, and sustainable design. He is a recognized expert in corporate design leadership and has been a frequent speaker on design and sustainability, including serving as Chair of the Global Agenda Council on Design for the World Economic Forum.
Chris holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design from the University of Cincinnati and remains dedicated to advancing sustainable design as a core business strategy.
