Caleb Schmidt is a proven design executive with more than two decades of experience leading large-scale, cross-functional teams to deliver human-centered and frictionless digital experiences. As Senior Vice President and Head of Experience Design at U.S. Bank, Caleb oversees design across the entire firm-wide lines of business—driving customer-centric innovation and shaping the bank’s digital transformation journey.
Caleb brings a hands-on leadership approach grounded in bridging the connection between design and business value through strategy, research and data. He’s known for orchestrating collaborative teams to solve complex challenges that exceed customer expectations and delivers business results. A skilled communicator, he influences and inspires across all levels of the organization – from individual contributors to the c-suite.
Before joining U.S Bank in 2022, Caleb spent eights years at USAA, where he led design for the banking division and was instrumental in establishing an enterprise-wide strategy to evolve USAA’s brand. Earlier in his career, he worked on the agency side, delivering brand and digital experiences for Fortune 500 companies like Shell, ExxonMobil, Halliburton, Ford, General Motors, Caterpillar, Compaq, Hewlett-Packard and many others.
Caleb holds degrees in digital media, communications, and business. He serves as a Council Member of the Design Executive Council and sits on the Advisory Board of UserTesting.
