Bill Kurland

Bill Kurland has led transformation through design at organizations of all sizes—from unicorn startups to Fortune 25 corporations. He's currently a Senior Director, Global UX Design at McDonald's, where he leads a group of cross-disciplinary teams to create valuable experiences that feel good and work great for billions worldwide.

Over the last 15 years, Bill has led design work across a variety of industries including quick-service restaurants, financial services, retail, e-commerce and insurance. At The Zebra, Bill led product designers, systems designers and established the content design function while partnering closely with engineering, product, marketing and research leaders to drive a culture of data-driven experimentation. At Walmart, Bill led 0-to-1, redesign and next-gen innovation work across customer, associate and enterprise audiences. 

At McDonald’s, he co-leads the 80-person global design org with a focus on enablement functions—accessibility, research, design systems and technology, content design and design operations. 

Earlier in his career, he held content strategy and design leadership roles across fintech, telecom, agency, and media environments as both an individual practitioner and a people leader.

Bill is based in Chicago.
