
Clasonda Armstrong-Grandison, a 36+ year design professional, leads the Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines product design team. Prior to Alaska, Grandison had a seasoned career in digital design at several big brands including United Airlines. At United, held the position of Director UX and was instrumental for the success of the digital design for their airline from 2020 to July 2024.
Under her UX leadership, United received several awards for its app digital experience, including the 2023 Best Airline Mobile App issued by the World Aviation Festival (WAF), The 2023 Business Traveler North America Award, Peoples Voice Web Award, and several others. During her 17+ year career at United she held roles as Senior UX, Designer, e-commerce, Corporate Brand Manager, Senior Manager UX and finally Director UX over all digital channels.
Overall, the focus of her career evolved from behind the mouse to leading the UX design team. In her earlier brand manager role for United, Grandison was responsible for maintaining brand consistency and confidence among the company partners and employees. When moving to the UX design team she held the position of Senior UX Manager, and is then Director of UX. In this role she lead the Alaska and Hawaiian's product designers and researchers to create stylized, user-friendly digital experiences for the United website, app, IFE and partner digital channels.
